The Ranger Trail can be accessed from Green Mountain Lodge on Flagstaff Mountain Road
|
The exact beginning of the Ranger Trail is difficult to determine, but it stems from the Gregory Canyon Trail. The Ranger Trail leads southward approximately 1.1 miles to the Bear Canyon Trail. Along its route the trail intersects the Green Mountain West Ridge Trail. From the Gregory Canyon Trail the Ranger Trail gains 1,190 feet in elevation. The surface of this trail is dirt with some rocky and wet areas. It is rated as moderately difficult by the Boulder Mountain Park Rangers.
Directions from Flagstaff Mountain Road: From Highway 36 take the Baseline Road exit and travel west toward the mountains. Follow Baseline Road 1.5 miles passed the entrance for Chautaugua Park and following Flagstaff Mountain Road to the right. The road ascends Flagstaff Mountain with many switchbacks and sharp turns. Continue on Flagstaff Mountain Road approximately 3.4 miles to the Flagstaff Summit Road. Turn left, away from the summit road, and park in the area provided. Follow signs to the Green Mountain Lodge. At the trail intersection with Gregory Canyon Trail take the right fork of that leads to the Ranger Trail.
