General Description

The Balconies Caves lie along the the West Fork of Chalone Creek drainage. They can be accessed via Balconies Trail on the right side of the fork that occurs within the first mile of the trail. The caves are approximately .7 miles from the Chaparral Ranger Station. They can be explored without a guide, but flashlights are required. Visitors should beware of low ceilings, drops and slippery rocks within the caves.

Directions from Chaparral Ranger Station: Follow the Balconies Trail northeastward from the trailhead. A fork in the trail occurs at .6 miles. Take the right side of the fork to reach the caves.
