Recreation Opportunities
Activity Remarks On Site
ICON Cold Water Fishing This is a dramatic and beautiful section of the river that can offer some great fishing. It's best to float the lower end of Gore Canyon, as there are seven good drift sections from Pump house to Dotsero. But this is not easy water to negotiate. Get a qualified guide if you want to drift the canyon. If you want seclusion, try the water up in the canyon above Pump house, which is often neglected. It's a tough trail and should be considered only by the young at heart. The payoff, however, is pristine water that changes character around every bend.
ICON Rafting & Kayaking The Middle Section of the Colorado River is extremely popular with whitewater enthusiasts. This section offers mainly Class II - II rapids. The famed Gore Canyon is also in this section and offers the ultimate in sport for the whitewater expert with Class V water and several mandatory portages.
