Skiing at Arapahoe Basin
|
Arapaho or "A" Basin is a fifty-two year old legend, which offers the highest lift-served terrain on the North American continent. Half of the mountain is above timberline with open bowl skiing and snowboarding. The Basin's extreme elevations allows them to boast the latest ski season in Colorado, normally remaining open until mid-June and on occasion, even into July and August. One of its signature runs, Palivacinni, is one of Colorado's longest and steepest trails. Arapaho Basin has no overnight accommodation. The closest lodging is about five miles down Highway 6 at Keystone. For more information call Arapaho Basin at 888-ARAPAHOE or Summit County Central Reservations at 800-365-6365.
Directions from Denver: Take I-70 west to Loveland Pass exit #216. Follow Highway 6 west over Loveland Pass to Arapaho Basin.
