At 9,712 feet at base elevation, Copper Mountain is one of the highest resorts in Colorado, with frequent powder and great views. Located on the east side of Vail Pass, along I-70, Copper Mountain is easily accessible from Denver. Copper has 2,433 lift-serviced acres and is Summit County's largest ski and snowboard resort. Copper Mountain's naturally divided terrain makes skiing or riding exceptional no matter what ability you may be. Beginners will find the gradual slopes on the west side of the mountain the ideal place to learn for all ages. For the intermediates, the place to enhance your skills is the center of the mountain, which offers numerous blue (intermediate) runs to play on throughout the day. For those who have made the transition to the expert/advanced level, Copper's east side of the mountain and back bowls provide a challenge. The Copper Mountain base village is currently in the midst of a major reconstruction. Three new, distinctly different base villages - part of a plan to spend $500 million over a five to ten year period at Copper will be complemented by on-mountain enhancements including an improved lift system, significantly upgraded places to meet and eat on the slopes and improved snow conditions. Directions from Vail/Eagle County Airport: Copper Mountain is located 55 miles east on I-70. Copper is 20 miles east of Vail, over Vail Pass.
