Howelsen Ski Area
Howelsen Hill Ski Area is located in Steamboat Springs and is managed by the Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Department. It boasts a remarkable heritage. Howelsen Hill is the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado. Howelsen Hill's 20, 30, 50, 70 and 90-meter jumping hills comprise the largest, most complete ski jumping complex in the United States. It has sent more skiers to international competition than any other area in North America. Howelsen is not a destination ski area, but has some relatively short runs which can offer an inexpensive days alternative to nearby Steamboat Ski Area. It also offers the only night skiing in the area, on several runs and the halfpipe. The Steamboat Springs Town Challenge race series is held on Howelsen Hill every other other Thursday night at 7 p.m.
