Durango Mountain Resort is located in the heart of the of the San Juan National Forest of southwest Colorado, 25 miles from the nearest stoplight. The towering mountains of this area meet the high desert and the result is an large amount of snow along with an abundant amount of sunshine. Durango Mountain has the most reliable ski conditions in the Southern Rockies and has good odds for perfect ski weather. Lodging is available either at Durango Mountain Resort or in the town of Durango. Durango Mountain features trails across more than 1,200 acres of terrain. The front side of the mountain offers some of Durango Mountain Resort's premier mogul runs. The back side is a mix of great cruisers and longer, challenging steeps. Durango Mountain Resort offers the separate Columbine beginners' learning area, served by it's own lifts, yet easily accessible to the rest of the resort. The Durango Mountain Resort Nordic Center offers 16 km of groomed track open to classic cross-country skiing and skate skiing. Equipment rentals, lessons and tours are available. Directions from Durango: Take Hwy 550 north to Durango Mountain Resort. The Durango Airport offers non-stop flights during the winter months from Denver, Dallas and Phoenix.
