Mound Valley is 4 1/2 miles east of Cherryvale, KS, and 12 miles west of Parsons, KS. The project lands are mainly oak-hickory forests with some rolling hills adjacent to private lands and farmlands. Some activities at this campground include bass fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and swimming.Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. The fee for each group camping area is $32/night w/option to use shelter for $8/night. Sites 1-8 and 17-41 in the North Loop are not open to advanced reservations but are available for use on a first come, first served basis at the park. The shelter (SHE) located between Group Areas A(G2) and B(G3) can only be reserved if a reservation is made for one or both Group Areas. If a reservation is made for both Group A(G2) and Group B(G3) the shelter must also be reserved. Attendants are on duty and gates are open 6am-10pm. Directions: Exit off of US Hwy 169 at Cherryvale, KS, go E through Cherryvale on Main St., turn S at the end of Main St onto Olive St, go • block (there is a sign), turn E onto CR 5000, follow paved road 4 • mi to Big Hill Lake, and follow the signs to the Mound Valley Park.
