General Description

A 1 mile trail off Pinnacle Trail leads to a wooded camping area where each site offers a grill and tent pad. Drinking water and pit toilets are provided. The wooded area is alive with animal life. White-tailed deer, raccoon, possum, eastern box turtles and fox call this area home.

Directions from Gastonia, NC: From I-85 take Exit 13 (Edgewood Road) about six miles west of Gastonia. Cross over I-85 and turn right onto Highway 29/74. Go two miles and turn left on Sparrows Spring Road and follow the road 2.7 miles onto park property. Take your first right and continue to the park entrance. Turn right and travel to visitor center. Begin on the trail behind the visitor center. When you come to an intersection, Crowders Trail heads east and Pinnacle Trail west. Take Pinnacle Trail west about .75 mile and you will see a spur trail on your right. Take the spur trail and it will fork shortly. Bear left to the family campground.
