The bridle trail is comprised mostly of forest roads available to those on horseback or on foot. The trail is blazed with red circles and follows the foot of Morrow Mountain. It carries you past Mountain Creek which is known as one of the best wildflower areas in the park. The trail moves inland again through forests of large oaks, beeches, and tulip poplars. The trail is 16 miles long and basically travels the perimeter of the park's boundary. The trail terminates back at the horse trailer parking.
Directions from Albemarle, NC: Travel six miles east of Albemarle on NC 740. Turn right (east) onto Morrow Mountain Road and take it into the park. Travel past the park gate and the park residences and you will see horse trailer parking on your right. The trail begins there.
