General Description

Kettle Creek offers wonderful day-use recreation. Many folks enjoy a day of fishing, picnicking and swimming along both shores. There are 4 picnic shelters, fireplaces, drinking water and restrooms. The shelters may be reserved by contacting the park office. The large stone fireplace shelter has electric available when reserved. Playground equipment is located in this area.

The excellent water quality along Kettle Creek provides good fishing for all ages and types of anglers. Both Kettle Creek and Ole Bull Run offer fishing for brook, brown and rainbow trout. Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission laws apply. Fishing is prohibited between the wires at the dam basin and swimming area. Fishing licenses are available nearby at several issuing agents. An accessible / children's fishing area is located below the dam breast to the fordway.

Directions from Renovo, PA: Travel west on SR 120 approximately 8 miles turning right (north) onto SR 4001. Travel about 8 - 10 miles to the park entrance. There is one park road, just north of the office, which travels over the creek and also a footbridge a little farther north that crosses the creek. You must take the Susquehannock Trail to reach the footbridge.

ICON Hiking & Walking The Daugherty Loop Trail combines the old logging and railroad grades to form a one hour walk through the Black Forest of Pennsylvania. Ole Bull Trail leads to the historic foundation remains of Ole Bull's "homesite" and a panoramic view of the park area. The 85-mile Susquehannock Trail System passes through Ole Bull State Park.

ICON Swimming & Waterplay A guarded 150-foot sandy beach along Kettle Creek is open 11 am to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, unless otherwise posted. The beach is located in Camping Area 1 across from the picnic area. Food, beverages and pets are not permitted in the beach area. All children 9 years of age and younger must be supervised by a responsible adult. Parking for the beach area is provided at the picnic area parking lot.
