Cold Water Fishing |
The lower Roaring Fork River from Carbondale to Glenwood Springs has its last major tributary, the Crystal river, enter just below Carbondale. From here downstream to the confluence with the Colorado River, the river falls the least amount, and is the most popular stretch with the floating fisherman. |

Float Fishing |
The best way to fish the lower Roaring Fork River is by floating it. The water slows and widens and, although larger than in any of its other sections, often seems tamer and more manageable. This is the easiest section to float, as there are the least amounts of obstacles, and the boat passes good spots slowly in comparison to the upper sections. |
