This is a quiet 1-mile hike taking the visitor to the banks of the Staunton River. The hiker may turn back onto Loblolly Trail, making it a 2-mile hike or turn right onto River Bank Trail which is a multi-use trail that follows the shoreline of both the Staunton River and the Dan River, 7 miles one way. The walk is through a forest of loblolly pine. A blanket of pine needles serves as the undercover making this a cool respite on a hot and humid Virginia Day. However, bug repellent is high advised.
Directions from South Boston, VA: The park is 18 miles east of South Boston. Take U.S. 360 West to Rt. 344 to the park entrance. Trailhead is located on the left side of the road immediately after the park entrance.
