Washington Irving South is located on the Arkansas arm of Keystone Lake. Local history has Washington Irving crossing the Arkansas River in this area during his expeditions west. The campsites are well shaded with abundant opportunities for fishing. There is a nature trail that is about 1 mile in length for your hiking pleasure. There is a playground for the children to play on, a swimming area, a multi-use court and areas for fishing along the shoreline. Other amenities include hot showers, boat ramps, a pay phone, and playgrounds.Reservations must be made at least 2 days in advance. This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on weekends. The campground is open 1 April-31 Oct. and sites are $11-$16/night. The swimming area is alcohol free. One camping unit and two vehicles are included in the camping fee. The gates to the campground close at 10pm. It is important that all campground visitor's are in before the gate's close.
Directions: From Tulsa, OK: Take Hwy 412 west for 15 miles to Bears Glen exit. Turn left at stop sign onto the Frontage Road and drive 1 block. Turn right at 1st paved road and follow 2 miles to campground entrance.
