General Description

Willow Flats Road leads westward from Balanced Rock four miles to the park boundary. This road is accessible to high clearance, four-wheel drive vehicles. The route crosses at least three tributaries to Courthouse Wash. These crossings are usually covered with deep sand making four-wheel drive necessary. This route is not recommended during periods of heavy rain and during the winter. Check current conditions with a ranger at the visitor center.

Directions from Main Park Entrance: Drive 9 miles northward along the Main Park Road to the Balanced Rock parking area. Willow Flats Road will be on the left side of the road.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: Mid-March through Mid-November (NOTE: This route is not maintained extremely slippery conditions may exist after heavy rains or snow.) .

Balanced Rock Loop Trail - This route leads less than one half mile around the base of Balanced Rock.

Four Wheel Drive Road Four-Wheel Drive Road - This road leads ten miles from the Klondike Bluffs area of Arches National Park to Willow Flats Road. It provides a challenging four-wheel drive route for visitors.

Main Park Road - The Main Park Road leads 18 miles from the park entrance to Devils Garden.
