This four-wheel drive road begins along Davis Canyon Road two miles south of State Road 211. It parallels Indian Creek for two and a half miles before reaching an intersection. The road leading to the left will take you to Dugout Ranch. The road leading to the right at this intersection leads past a landing strip to two mines. Continue driving forward at this intersection, following the drainage of Indian Creek. Beyond this intersection Lavender Canyon Road winds through the Indian Creek drainage for several miles. The road follows the wash through deep sand, water and patches of quick sand. It gains elevation slowly as it leads to the headwaters of Lavender Canyon. When the road reaches the park boundary, approximately 14 miles from State Road 211, passengers should begin to look for Natural Arch. This sandstone arch is visible from the road. It lies north of the drainage. About a half mile from the park boundary the road forks. The right side leads two miles into a short tributary to Lavender Canyon. The main road continues leading southward three and a half miles. Cleft Arch is the next landmark to look for on the northern side of the drainage approximately two and a half miles from Natural Arch.
Directions from Needles Visitor Center: Drive 8 miles toward Highway 191 on State Road 211. Turn right on to Davis Canyon Road and travel approximately 2.5 miles to Lavender Canyon Road on the left.
