General Description

The South Draw Road is a high-clearance, four-wheel-drive road that extends southward from Pleasant Creek to the park boundary, near Tantalus Flats. It is rough and rocky, includes several creek crossings and, in inclement weather, becomes impassable to even four-wheel-drive vehicles. Visitors can reach this road by following the Pleasant Creek Road from the end of Scenic Drive to the crossing at Pleasant Creek. The South Draw Road climbs upward from Pleasant Creek, exits the park and eventually meets Utah Highway 12 on Boulder Mountain. The access to South Draw Road from Boulder Mountain is closed in winter and access from Pleasant Creek is not possible, except during the mildest winters, due to snow.

Directions from Highway 24: Turn southward at the visitor center on to Scenic Drive and travel 10 miles to Pleasant Creek Road. Follow Pleasant Creek Road southward to the creek crossing. South Draw Road ascends southward from the creek crossing.

Seasonal Information:
Normally Open: Mid-March through Mid-November (NOTE: The western terminus of this road is closed due to snow during winter. The Pleasant Creek access closes frequently during winter due to dangerous conditions.) .

Report: South Draw was a nice suprise at the end of the Pleasant Creek dirt road. Begins with a fun dunk into the creek- which had kept the trail closed the two days prior due to recent rains. Saw only 1 jeep on that drive. Awesome country. Best advice: TURN AROUND at the park boundary. I didn't. It's a very long and very rocky road towards Boulder Mtn. I also recommend the 4x4 drive to Strike Valley Overlook. A short hike at the end of that rocky wash yields a breathtaking 40 mile view of the valley.
Conditions: Plenty of big rocks, occasional mud, narrow climb up the side of a mountain. I drove a 4x4 Expedition.
Water Availability: bring it
