Tarpon is a seasonal catch along Florida's coast
|
Lake Wauberg offers a boat launch where visitors enjoy canoeing and electric motor boat use. Anglers fish from boats, the shoreline or the boardwalk. The lake is fished year-round yielding largemouth bass, crappie, and bream. Individuals 16 years and older must have a Florida freshwater fishing license. In addition to fishing, people enjoy fabulous wildlife viewing opportunities, viewing the beautiful wet prairie land, camping at the 50-site campground and visiting two interpretive centers. Picnicking, hiking, biking and horseback riding are other park recreations.
Directions from Gainesville, FL: Travel south on Interstate 75. Take exit 75 heading east to U.S. Highway 441. Travel north a short distance to reach the preserve. Lake Wauberg is first road on the left after passing the entrance.
