Tomoka State Park is a familiar destination for anglers. A boat launch offers immediate access to Tomoka Basin, Tomoka River and Halifax River. With the waters surrounding the park on three sides, a survey by the Florida Marine Research Institute has identified 90 different species of fish. Anglers typically catch black drum and redfish in the Tomoka River and Basin during the winter months. The fish prefer live shrimp but will bite on dead bait. Summer anglers are rewarded with spotted seatrout, flounder, snook and tarpon. Florida does require a saltwater fishing license. Rules and regulations apply and are posted at the park. The park offers canoe rental.
