Description
- The Mississippi Delta Region is a land of rice fields, white cotton, lush soybeans and golden wheat as far as the eye can see. It is accented by restored plantation mansions, cypress-lined lakes, Victorian homes and river port towns.
Recreation - Excellent fishing opportunities abound in the Mississippi Delta Region. The nine state parks offer many other outdoor activities such as camping, picnicking and hiking. Climate - Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties. The Mississippi Delta Region occupies the eastern part of the state, bounded on the southwest by the Gulf Coastal Plain and on the northwest by the Ouachita Mountains and the Ozark Mountains.
