Description - Tonkin Spring is located northwest of the Roberts Mountains, at the mouth or Red Canyon, in Eureka County, Nevada. Elevations range from 2,000 feet at the site to 3,089 feet at the top of Roberts Creek Mountain. Camping, fishing, wildlife viewing, horseback riding, rock climbing, backpacking, hunting, nature study, picnicking, and photography are the most common activities enjoyed at this isolated site.
The Roberts Mountain Wilderness Study Area is approximately two miles east of the recreation area. High clearance vehicles are recommended. This recreation site is isolated and undeveloped with no facilities, so please plan your outing accordingly.

Directions from Eureka: The turn-off to Tonkin Spring is approximately 25 miles west on U.S. Highway 50 and signed (the 3-Bars road). From the 3-Bars turnoff, travel 35 miles north on a maintained gravel road to the recreation area. The recreation site is just north of the road from the Tonkin Spring Mine sign.
