Description - Joes Valley Reservoir Campground is located in a high mountain valley adjacent
to and just above Joes Valley Reservoir at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Junipers,
pinyon pines, and sagebrush cover the area, and aspens and pines dot the
surrounding hillsides. The reservoir is visible from several sites and offers good
fishing for cutthroat, rainbow trout, and trophy splake. Boating, water skiing,
and canoeing are popular on the lake, a boat ramp is within the facility, and Joe's
Valley Resort nearby has boat, personal watercraft, ATV and bike rentals.
Attractions
- Joes Valley Reservoir is situtated in an open setting with limited shade at 6,990-
feet in elevation and has a 1,160-acre surface area. The expansive Arapeen ATV
Trail System can be accessed just west of the reservoir, and has 350+ miles of
designated, well-maintained trails for ATVs and OHVs and is suitable for all
riding levels. Horseback riding, hiking and mountain biking are popular in the
area as well.
Recreation - The managed recreation season is May through October with use heavy on
weekends and holidays. Preferred activities include fishing, camping, and
sightseeing. Available species include rainbow trout, splake trout, and cutthroat
trout. Some facilities accessible to persons with disabilities. Reservations
accepted for certain campsites; fees charged. All-weather access over State Rd.
29. Joes Valley U.S. Geological Service map covers the area. Stream fishing
above and below the reservoir. Climate - The climate of Utah varies with the terrain. Visitors to the mountains will
experience cool summer nights and passing storms that can alter a sunny day
very quickly. Be prepared with layers when recreating in the mountains.
The deserts and canyons of Utah can be dangerous places. Summer
temperatures often reach above 100 degrees F, so be sure to carry water on all
adventures. Flash floods in the canyons are also a threat. It is difficult to predict
incoming weather when deep within a canyon so check reports before venturing
into any narrow canyon areas. Location -
Joes Valley Reservoir is located 15 miles west of Orangeville. From Price, Utah,
travel 45 miles south on State Road 10 to the junction of State Road 10 and 29.
Turn west on State Road 29 through Orangeville, approximately 12 miles. Turn
north at stop sign and follow State Road 29 approximately 18 miles to
campground
