General Information

Description - Step back in time to a lakeside country inn nestled among the wooded hills of southern Oklahoma. Here, you'll find warm hospitality, charming turn-of-the-century decor and a wholesome family environment.

Oklahoma's oldest and largest state park, located on the shores of beautiful Lake Murray. Fishing, boating and all water sports are found at Lake Murray. Other activities include golfing, picnics, camping, horseback riding, hayrides, hiking, biking, roller blading, swimming, miniature golf and paddle boating. Sports facilities include an 18-hole golf course with a pro shop, tennis courts, softball fields, baseball diamond, horseshoe pits, badminton and volleyball nets. New and improved ATV area for 3/4 wheelers, motorcycles and dirt bikes. Other facilities found in the park include an airstrip, bait and tackle shop, marina with rentals and enclosed fishing dock, swimming pool with a changing house, swimming beach, riding stable, remote control air field for hobbyists, scuba outfitter, miniature golf course and frisbee golf. While visiting the park, be sure to check out the Tucker Tower Nature Center, a former summer retreat of Governor Murray that was built by the WPA on a bluff and looks much like a lighthouse. Today, local artifacts are housed there and nature programs and activities by the state park naturalist are conducted. Hickory Creek area has good opportunities for fall foliage viewing. ,P.Numerous RV campsites and tent camping areas are located throughout the park. Lake Murray Resort is also on site and offers guest rooms and suites, cabins, meeting space, The Apple Bin restaurant, and the Parlor. For lodge room or cabin information, call 800-257-0322. A fee of $3 per vehicle per day applies to day-use visitors at the Elephant Rock area (fee is waived if camping in this area). Climate - This state has a mild climate due to its southern location and low elevations. The western regions of the state are somewhat drier than that of the east. Winter temperatures range from 50 degrees to 25 degrees F. The season extends from December through February and very little snow fall during this period. Spring begins in March, with temperatures between 50 and 70 degrees F. Temperatures rise throughout the season and summer highs begin to peak in July and August. All regions of Oklahoma receive days with temperatures reaching 100 degrees. The southwestern corner of the state usually records the hottest temperatures. by October fall temperatures provide relief from the heat of summer. Temperatures during this season reach into the 60s for highs and dip into the 30s for the lows. The relative humidity has an annual average of 64 percent. The most rainfall occurs during the months of May and June.
