Chapman State Park offers 83 tent / RV sites located in a beautiful woods. The campground is used spring, summer and late fall. There is also group camping available for up to 100 people. This area is open year-round.

There are over picnic tables are found in the park mainly by the swimming area. Four picnic shelters are available as well.

The 68 acre lake offers both cold and warm water fish which includes brook and brown trout, largemouth bass, bluegills, sunfish and yellow perch. Canoes, kayaks and electric motor boats are allowed on the lake. Two boat launch ramps and 50 seasonal mooring spaces are available with free overnight mooring for registered campers. A boat rental concession rents canoes, rowboats and pedal boats

The park offers a swimming beach during the summer months and follows the local school schedule with regards to lifeguard protection.

For those who wish to learn more about the environment, an environmental interpreter is on the staff on a seasonal basis. Movies and slide programs, guided walks, stream studies, child programs and other programs are made enjoyable as well as educational.

A 12-mile hiking trail system is located in the park. Chapman State Park is an ideal starting point for backpack trips. Map and trail information concerning designated National Forest trails and many of the old forestry roads and railroad grades are available in the park office. Free parking is available at the park for those who would rather not leave their vehicles along public roadways. PLEASE SIGN IN AT THE PARK OFFICE.

Over 400 acres are open to hunting, with the exception of: 1) hunting of woodchucks also known as groundhogs is prohibited and 2) dog training is only permitted from the day following Labor Day to March 31 in designated hunting areas. Common game species are deer, turkey, bear and small game. Contact the park manager for accessible hunting information.

Exercise EXTREME CAUTION with firearms at all times. This park is used by fishermen, campers and others throughout the hunting season. Pennsylvania Game Commission laws apply.

Firearms and archery equipment may be uncased and ready for use by properly licensed hunters only in authorized hunting areas and during those seasons park areas are opened to hunting or under special conditions which may be established by the Department.

Winter sports are popular at Chapman State Park. Snowmobiling, ice skating, ice fishing and ice boating are enjoyed by many. The lake is stocked with fish during the winter. Ice boaters should call the park to check ice surface conditions prior to coming. Seven acres of slopes are available for sledding and tobogganing. The slopes are lighted until 10 p.m., daily. Many skiers use the 4.4 miles of ski trails within the park. These trails connect with numerous trails in the adjoining Allegheny National Forest and State Game lands. A warming hut is available containing a wood burning stove, picnic tables and benches.

ADA picnic tables and parking spaces have been designated throughout the park. All of the restrooms can accommodate wheelchairs. Restricted service roads are open to people with disabilities by permit only. Permits are available at the park office. Special fishing and swimming piers are also provided. Campsites with accessible table and fire ring may be reserved.
