The mountainous region and various lakes and rivers provide a plethora of recreation opportunities for visitors and locals in Lake City. During the summer months hiking, mountain and road biking, camping, four-wheel driving and fishing are very popular activities. Winter is usually less hectic, due to the difficulty found in reaching Lake City. Those who do come to the region during the winter months will enjoy ice skating, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, cross-country and backcountry skiing.
