The park has two trails, both of which are multi-use with parking available for horse trailers. There are no overnight accommodations, however, the park is only 20 minutes from Staunton River State Park that offers camping and cabins. It does have a picnic shelter and accommodates a limited number of parking spots for horse trailers. This park is also known for hosting one of Longwood College's Archeological digs. During 1999, a Native American Shaman estimated to be over 1,000 years old was found on this site. Note: This park closes each year between December 15th and February 15th. Staunton River State Park (The names of these parks are so similar that it can be confusing.) is a short drive from Staunton River Battlefield State Park. It does provide overnight accommodations. It is located on Buggs Island Lake on Rt. 344, west of the town, South Boston. South Boston Speedway fans and South Boston Museum are popular attractions.
