Some of our 12 year old scouts went on their first backpack trip! We went from the road's end, hiked across the dry Sespe at Lion's camp, then up to Piedra Blanca campsite. There was plenty of shade at the camp and abundant cool clear running water. Only problem was it must have been 95+ degrees! The scouts loved the view. We just did an overnight and back. Worst part was the hike up the hill from Lion Camp at 1030 in the morning..hot, hot, hot.
