Chapman Picnic Ground	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Chapman Campground is located adjacent to the Fryingpan River. If you are an angler, the lower Fryingpan is classified as a gold medal water by the Colorado Division of Wildlife.

Crystal Mill Site	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Crystal Mill is considered by some to be one of the most photographed sites in Colorado. The mill is one of the remains of the mining economy that fueled settlement of the Rocky Mountain region of Colorado.

Crystal River	Crystal River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	The Crystal River is one of the last free-flowing rivers in the west, tumbling more than 35 miles through scenic terrain to join the Roaring Fork River two miles below Carbondale.

Dearhamer Picnic Ground	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Dearhamer is 32 miles east of Carbondale. It is located on the Fryingpan River and east of Ruedi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 ft.

Difficult Group Site	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	Difficult Family Campground is located five miles southeast of Aspen on Highway 82. It has 47 sites with limited spurs to accommodate trailers up to 40'.

Eagle/Thomasville Road	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	This road is not a four wheel drive road, but is very dangerous and slippery when wet. Do not drive on it if rain is in the forecast or it has recently rained!

East Maroon Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This wilderness trail provides good backpacking opportunities and is also a good horseback trail.

Express Creek Road to Taylor Pass Road	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This is a popular high-altitude jeep route beginning at Express Creek Road. Because of the altitude snow is often present well into mid-July.

Freeman Mesa Day Use Area	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Freeman Mesa Day Use Area is located on the north shore of Ruedi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 ft. It provides access to water sports on the reservoir and land sports on the surrounding terrain.

Fryingpan Lakes Trail	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Beginning at Nast (Horseshoe Bend), the trail is a fairly easy climb and parallels the Fryingpan River for nine miles until it reaches the lakes.

Fryingpan River	Fryingpan River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	This stretch of the river is considered to be some of the finest trout water in the West.

Geneva Lake Trail	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	The easy accessibility of the lake makes it one of the most popular and therefore, one of the most heavily used trails on the district. The trail is moderately steep and has some good views of the surrounding mountains.

Grizzly Lake Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This is a moderate climb with fair fishing at the lake. There is limited camping (stoves ONLY) at the lake. Due to the fragile alpine tundra, it's recommended that you camp below the timberline.

Grottos Day Use Area	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This is a popular area for picnicking and exploring. There is a waterfall, some interesting rock formations, an ice cave, and numerous short trails. This is a great area for families.

Independence Pass Area	Independence Pass Area, Aspen Ranger District	The Independence Pass Area is located east of Aspen, between town and Independence Pass. This area offers a high concentration of attractions in a scenic setting.

Linkins Lake Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This is a moderately steep climb to a high alpine lake above the timberline with fair fishing. Beware of severe afternoon thunderstorms.

Little Mattie Picnic Ground	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Little Mattie is 25 miles east of Carbondale. It is located on Reudi Reservoir at an elevation of 7,800 ft.

Lost Man Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This trail is good for hiking and backpacking, also fishing is fair in Independence Lake, Lost Man Lake, and Lost Man Reservoir. The trail is not a complete loop; it is a good idea to set up a shuttle.

Maroon Creek Road	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	Maroon Creek Road leads to Maroon Lake and the Maroon Bells, the most photographed mountains in the country. This route is good for taking an all day trip with a picnic stop.

Maroon Lake Scenic Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This trail is one of the most heavily used trails in the Aspen area. Hikers and picnickers enjoy the wildflowers and views of the Maroon Bells and Pyramid Peak. A great family day hike with many photographic opportunities.

Maroon-Snowmass Trail (from Snowmass Creek Trailhead)	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This trail is one of the most heavily used trails in the Aspen area. Hikers, backpackers and horse travelers enjoy the wildflowers, views and access to other areas within the Wilderness.

Midway Creek Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	This is a great trail for backpacking and horse travel. The trail is mostly in the Hunter-Fryingpan Wilderness and is one of the less-used trails in the Aspen area.

Nast Trailhead	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	The trailhead marks the beginning of the trail to Nast Lake, a popular site for fishermen.

Petroleum & Anderson Lakes Trail	Aspen Ranger District, White River National Forest	The Trail follows an old jeep road that is now closed to mechanized vehicles. The trail follows Anderson Creek passing through fir forests then tundra.

Roaring Fork River	Roaring Fork River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	The Roaring Fork River is a freestone river that has many different faces as it travels throughout the Roaring Fork Valley. It originates on Independence Pass and culminates at the confluence with the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs.

Roaring Fork-Lower River Section	Roaring Fork River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	The Gold Medal water section of the Roaring Fork runs from the confluence with the Crystal River to the confluence with the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs.

Roaring Fork-Middle River Section	Roaring Fork River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	The Middle section of the Roaring Fork River from Basalt to Carbondale falls in elevation much less than the upper sections and offers larger runs and pools.

Roaring Fork-Upper River Section	Roaring Fork River, Colorado Rivers & Streams	The Upper section of the Roaring Fork River is the narrowest and fastest section of the river with the most vertical drop. The fishing is characterized by mostly riffle water with the occasional pool and run. These fish while not the largest in the river can many times be the most aggressive.

Rocky Fork Trail	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	Fishing is fair in the stream for Brook Trout.

Ruedi Boat Ramp & Picnic Ground	Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest	The Ruedi Boat Ramp and Picnic Ground is located adjacent to Little Maud, Little Mattie and Mollie B Campgrounds, near the west end of Ruedi Reservoir.

Ruedi Reservoir	Ruedi Reservoir	Recreation facilities around the lake consist of four campgrounds accommodating 81 campsites and two boat-launching ramps. The lake covers about 997 acres and is approximately 5 miles long.
