You travel through aspens and meadows with some wild flowers. Horses use the area all year long, especially during the fall hunting seasons.
Miller Divide Trail Sopris Ranger District,

This trail accesses some of the finest deer and elk habitat in the country. It also provides scenic views of the Fryingpan Valley and Rocky Fork Creek.
Mount Sopris Trail Sopris Ranger District,

The hike to Mt. Sopris summit is beautiful and best attempted at a relaxing pace of two days. A great location for overnight primitive camping is Thomas Lakes at the base of the summit trail.
North Fork Trail (Sopris District) Sopris Ranger District,

The trail follows the North Fork of the Crystal until it goes over Frigid Air Pass. The back of the Maroon Bells can be viewed from the basin.

The Placita Trail provides access to the Lily Lake trail. The trail goes through large, dense stands of aspen and then pine at the upper end. It ends at its junction with the Lily Lake trail.
Raspberry Creek Loop Trail Sopris Ranger District,

This lightly used trail offers beautiful scenery as well as solitude. This trail is very difficult to find in spots, so bring a topo map and compass.

Taking this route from the top down is an enjoyable downhill cruise with some short uphill sections and some outstanding views of the area. The trail mostly passes through lodgepole pine and an occasional meadow.

Schofield Pass Four-Wheel Drive Road Sopris Ranger District,

Schofield was an old mining town and is now a ghost town with a number of old building still standing. The first portion of the road passes through a narrow, steep canyon which contains a number of picturesque water falls.
Silver Creek Pass Trail Sopris Ranger District,

This lightly used trail varies from easy to fairly steep in some areas and consists of a few loose, rocky stretches. The majority of the trail affords an excellent view of the encompassing mountains and the East Fork Valley.

This is a popular bike loop route from Carbondale to Redstone. There is very little water along the trail.

The trail is very well maintained and in good condition. It is very heavily used on weekends, so plan your trip accordingly. The hike is a beautiful one with many wild flowers and scenic overlooks.
Yule Creek Trail Sopris Ranger District,

The first 3/4 mile of this trail is steep but levels off to a gradual climb when you reach the creek. After the creek crossing the trail follows the creek through willows, meadows and patches of conifer.
