This is an old livestock trail, now open to hikers and horses. In the fall, hunters seek elk and deer on this trail.

This is a very difficult day hike to a mountain pass offering wonderful views of surrounding peaks. Due to the steep terrain, this trail is recommended for experienced hikers and backpackers.
Apishapa Trail San Carlos Ranger District,
Pike and San Isabel National Forests
Apishapa Trail starts from the Cordova Road Trailhead and junctions after about 3 miles with West Peak Trail. It is possible to make a loop using this trail, West Spanish Peak Trail and Wade Trail.
Arkansas Mt. Trail Sopris Ranger District,

This trail starts one mile up the Silver Creek trail and ends when it joins Carbonate Creek trail. Arkansas Mt. Trail connects 3 trails together.
Battlement #2 Trail Rifle Ranger District,

This section of Battlement would be a good day hike of approximately 3 miles from Beaver Creek to West Mamm.

The Bears Ears Trail #1144 is located north of Craig and Hayden. The trail makes a 44 mile loop around Black Mountain and Bears Ears, with numerous access points.
Black Canyon Trail Saguache Ranger District,

The trail ascends Black Canyon to reach alpine terrain then stays in the high country all the way to Hayden pass. Scenery is excellent from Nipple Mountain north.

The trail goes through all types of terrain as it goes toward Mesa Mountain (12,944 feet in elevation). The trail is used by horsemen, ATVs, motorcycles and foot traffic.

The Long Park/Lost Creek area offers access to four-wheel drive roads, hiking trails and hunting. It is located in the northern portion of the Blanco Ranger District, northeast of Buford.
Luders Creek Campground Saguache Ranger District,

The road leading to the campground is itself of historical significance. It was one of the famous toll roads leading west from Saguache built by Otto Mears.

Trail attractions are 6"-8" brookies and cutthroat trout in the lower section of the creek. No mountain lake is reached unless the divide is crossed to Brush Creek Lakes.

Music Pass Four-Wheel Drive Road San Carlos Ranger District,

Shortly after entering the National Forest is the southern trailhead for the Rainbow Trail and the beginning of the 2 mile four-wheel drive portion of the road which ends at Music Pass Trailhead.
North Clear Creek Campground Divide Ranger District,

Some sites are in open, while some sites are screened with small aspen/spruce/fir. Good general area in the fall to observe and take pictures of fall aspen colors.
North Rock Creek Trail Divide Ranger District,

This trail is lightly used during most of the season. Suitable camping areas can be found along the trail. Beautiful views may be enjoyed at the top.

The attraction of this road is wildlife viewing and hunting access. On Schrader Creek, there are numerous camping spots.

The Sleepy Cat area offers access to a number of four-wheel drive roads, trails, and hunting. It is located in the northwest portion of the Blanco Ranger District, northeast of Meeker.

Spectacle Lake Campground Conejos Peak Ranger District,

Spectacle Lake Campground has 24 sites with picnic tables and fireplaces. There is access to the Conejos River and Spectacle Lake.

The Trail Creek site is 2.5 miles south of Lake Fork Campground on the Alamosa-Conejos River Road (Forest Road 250). No facilities are provided.

Whale Creek Trail Saguache Ranger District,

The trail is well marked once the trailhead is passed. It offers access to the Palmer Mesa area from Saguache Park. Attractions are fishing in the creek and big game hunting.
Youngs Canyon Trail Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
The trail is very steep for the first 1.5 miles with about a 1,200 foot rise in elevation and is used heavily during the hunting seasons.
