This dirt road leads through the West Elk Mountains and connects Paonia to Crested Butte. It is maintained from Memorial Day through October.
Lake Irwin Cross-country Ski Trail Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
The Lake Irwin Ski Route can be used as an addition to the Kebler Pass Route. If you plan to eat lunch at Irwin Lodge call in advance for accommodations.
Lost Canyon Road #743 Taylor River Ranger District,

Lost Canyon Road is a popular place for motorized vehicles and mountain bikes. It leads to and intersects with several other four-wheel drive roads northeast of Gunnison.
Mirror Lake Road # 267 Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
The first four miles of this road from Tincup to Mirror Lake are usually passable by two-wheel drive vehicles.
Ohio Creek Road Taylor River Ranger District,

Ohio Creek Road leads 23.5 miles north from Gunnison to Kebler Pass. Its a great place to see the Colorado wildflowers in bloom during the summer and the golden hue of aspen trees in autumn.
Pieplant Creek Road # 742.8F Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
This road provides access to Pieplant Creek, Timberline Trail and the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness.
Red Mountain Creek Road # 742.8H Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
This road accesses Timberline Trail (no 4 WD vehicles allowed) and Red Mountain Creek. The first mile of the road is usually passable by two-wheel drive vehicles.
Rocky Brook Road Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
Rocky Brook Road, Forest Road 748, leads from Spring Creek Road to Taylor River Road. The Star Trailhead lies on Rocky Brook Road.
Taylor Pass Road Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
Taylor Pass Road climbs from Taylor Park to Taylor Pass (11,928 feet). Access to the pass may be obtained from Ashcroft or Taylor Park.
Texas Creek Road #755 Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
Texas Creek Road provides access to the western boundary of the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area. This part of the wilderness is not heavily used and a good place to seek solitude.

This road accesses Lottis Creek and Gold Creek Trail in the Fossil Ridge Wilderness.
Washington Gulch Road Taylor River Ranger District,
Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests
Washington Gulch Road follows Washington Gulch to the abandoned town site of Elkton. It may be combined with Slate River Road to make a loop back to Highway 135.
